Spider-Man, Quinjet Ride More: The Ultimate Guide to Disney's Avengers Campus

Chapek said the Mary Poppins attraction for Disney World is also delayed indefinitely. The long-rumored attraction, for which there is no concept art or ride description, would be in a proposed Cherry Tree Lane expansion of the United Kingdom pavilion in Epcot's World Showcase.

As has been the trend with Disney rides of late, expect there to be a lot of screen technology in use. Like it or not, they are cheaper and easier to run than the more complicated and problematic audio-animatronics, though I really do hope we get a few of those in here too.

Spider-Man, Quinjet Ride More

I wouldn't mind another coaster in CA, not sure there is enough room. I hope the ride is more then just another smugglers run. That ride is good for those driving.More of a screen...simulator ride. Not great.

At the same time, I'm far more excited for the "phase two" attraction in Avengers Campus that Disney Parks chairman Bob Chapek teased last summer at the D23 Expo: a Quinjet ride to Wakanda where guests will board an all-new ride system for a battle alongside the Avengers to determine the fate of the world. That tease makes me suspect that the new Spider-Man ride might turn out to be the Smugglers Run to the future Avengers ride's Rise of the Resistance.

I wish I could be more hyped for Avengers Campus, but when the only ride at opening is a screen shooter in a park that already has a screen shooter it's hard to get too excited. This is compounded by the fact that the (reportedly) world's greatest dark ride will have just opened across the way and Universal's Spider-Man dark ride (among the world's greatest) has been in operation for two decades. I just don't see any way Disney's Spider-Man ride will compare favorably to what is already out there. That said, I do think the land will be great once the phase two attraction opens, but I'm anticipating that won't be until the mid 2020s.

The issue is that unless Disney can make the ride system more dynamic, which in turn would make it hard for guests to participate, it's going to be tough to top Universal's Spiderman attraction, which is still the gold standard for motion-base dark rides.

Avengers Campus, one of the most popular areas at Disney California Adventure park, is officially expanding! Even though this area already has two rides, several restaurants, and rotating character meet and greets, Disney is investing in bringing even more Marvel to this park with a brand new expansion that was announced by Disney CEO Bob Chapek himself during the Disney Legends panel at this year's D23 Expo.

All of that is only phase one for the land, with Phase Two set to open in the coming years and feature the headliner Avengers E-Ticket ride that Disney has briefly touched on. We go into more detail on the attraction (HERE).

At the 2022 D23 convention, more details emerged on what's coming to Avengers Campus. From the Hulk greeting guests almost immediately to the expansion of the Multiverse to changes to the new ride that is in development, there is a lot to look forward to in Avengers Campus.

WEB SLINGERS no longer utilizes a virtual queue. It has a standby line and a single rider line (you still get the pre-show with Peter Parker). As of Oct. 11, 2022, this ride has joined Genie+ and is no longer an individual Lightning Lane. Hop here to read more about Genie+.

Avengers Headquarters is getting a third ride. But froget everything you thought you knew about it because the original concept has changed to a toadlly new one that opens up the Multiverse for a different kind of "E-ticket" attraction. Imagine if Thanos won the battle and is king. What would that world look like? I'm so excited to learn more about this!

For those tired of squinting at last week's UK Toy Fair images of The Avengers quinjet toy, Canada's Toys"R"Us site has got you covered. New preorder images give a much clearer look at both boxed and unboxed images of Hasbro's take on the Avengers' signature movie ride, plus 3.75" figures of Thor, Captain America, Iron Man and Ultimate versions of Thor and Hawkeye based on their comic designs. Sadly, there's not a bigger image of the 3-foot-long S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier toy yet, but these new images will just have to do for now. The toys are tentatively scheduled to ship at the end of February and the New York Toy Fair is just a few weeks away, so fans can probably count on seeing much, much more of The Avengers toy line soon. Check out the quinjet and new action figure images after the jump. The Avengers Quinjet

Of course, what would a Marvel event be without a handful of Easter eggs that reference the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Indeed, there are many secrets sprinkled around the campus, and plenty hiding in plain sight on or around the all-new WEB Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure ride. Read on to learn more about some of the unique Easter eggs you can find at the truly astonishing Avengers Campus!

One of the more obvious Easter eggs eager fans will see at Avengers Campus is a red-and-gold-painted shawarma cart located between the Ancient Sanctum and the brand new Web Slingers ride. Obviously, this is a nod to the end of Joss Whedon's "The Avengers" film during which our heroes, immediately following the battle of New York in which the titular squad teamed up for the first time to take on Loki and a massive Chitauri army, head over to a shawarma restaurant to enjoy some much-needed R&R and chow down on the popular Levantine Arab dish.

Even Peter Parker gets in on the fun, albeit in a manner that continues his WEB Slingers Spider-Bot mishap. On the ride, the young scientist accidentally begins duplicating Spider-Bots that begin to run amok in his lab. Riders combat the little droids in an interactive video game setting and eventually help Spider-Man save the day. Except in Peter's text, it seems his problems continue, leading him to send Scott the message, "Before you get mad ... I'm sending more Spider-Bots over to clean up the other Spider-Bots. And the food. And the drinks. And the broken plates. Sry. Also, can I get a pretzel?"

Rock N Roller Coaster was a much more immersive and incredible experience and this feels like the entire budget went on the trains and queue line with absolutely nothing spent inside the ride building itself.

Avengers Campus is the newest addition to Disneyland California and might just be the best reason to visit the park now. The newly converted Tower of Tower is now Mission Breakout, a Guardians of the Galaxy ride that is an absolute blast along with a (surprisingly underwhelming) new Spider-man ride. However, the real reason to visit is for the atmosphere and live shows. Standing beneath the walls of the Avengers complex under the wings of a quinjet while The Dora Milaje (Warriors from Wakanda) conducts an interactive training exercise is truly something special. 2ff7e9595c
